First run in 2005, by a few locals tired with the shallow indulgences of the Melbourne Cup, The Eastment Street Derby has been run annually down an inner-city street by a community gathered by word-of-mouth. The race has no promotion, no publicity, no permit and no insurance,… but every possibility of a hilarious afternoon of dress-ups, get downs, thrills, spills, kids getting serious and adults behaving like ding-dongs!

This blog is intended to be repository of images, stories, videos that document what can be done when the community comes together, spends no cash and has a ball.
